The Dollar Tree can be easily overlooked as a sourcing option. A new policy may change that thought. Although items there can be purchased for only $1, Dollar Tree has recently begun offering a chance at even greater savings. As of the end of August, Dollar Tree is accepting manufacturer’s coupons.
There are a few things to keep in mind per Dollar Tree’s Official General Coupon Policy:
1. Only original and intact manufacturers’ coupons will be accepted. Retailer-specific coupons will not be accepted.
2. Coupons are void if copied, scanned, or if they have been altered in any way.
3. Only two (2) print-at-home Internet coupons may be redeemed per transaction.
4. We are unable to accept coupons for “Free” items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank.
5. Coupons can only be used in stores and must be presented at time of purchase. Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash at a later time.
6. Coupons will not be accepted without the purchase of the item specified and are subject to the terms listed (e.g. expiration date, size, limitations, quantity, etc.).
7. Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.
8. Only one (1) manufacturer’s coupon will be accepted per item.
9. Management has the right to refuse any coupon or otherwise limit quantities.
The policy may be frustrating if you are into extreme couponing. Otherwise, this does offer new possibilities. Not only will you be able to find items to resell on eBay or Amazon, the use of coupons can stretch your sourcing budget. (Of course, this depends on what category you are selling.) If you are considering moving into the grocery category, this could be a chance to get started with a relatively small investment. Dollar Tree does carry grocery items. The chain also carries many other categories such as computer accessories, home décor, part supplies. While these items most likely will not have coupons that you can use, a dollar is not a lot to invest if you want to take a chance on diversifying your inventory.
Before you head into your local Dollar Tree with a stack of coupons, please review and learn the policies. It does look like some of the policy could be subject to the interpretation of your local store’s staff. You may want to call first to verify coupons are being accepted. Talk to the manager first if you have questions about what coupons you can use and how many. Ultimately, the managers may be the deciding factor on whether you can use the coupons or not.
What should you remember? Make sure your local store is accrpting coupons. Know the coupon policy before you go to the store. Be patient. You will not be able to stockpile items with coupons like you would at a traditional grocery store. Be open-minded. This is just another one of those endless possibilities you can use to increase your profits on eBay and Amazon.
